IBM Model M 122 terminal mod: unused barrel next to space.

Has anyone added a trace and gotten it to work?

Background: This is my first Model M and I have not even hooked it up. The teensy++ came in the mail the other day, but I ordered the wrong part and have to wait for a 6pin 240 degree to ship. In the meantime, I am doing a bolt mod and have torn the M122 down completely. There is a barrel between space and LALT, but the matrix doesn't have a intersection for that location. I'd like to extend a trace each from the upper and lower plastic sheets, cut down the space bar, put a key-spring-hammer and have it return LGUI from the keyboard controller through Soarer's converter to my computer. Has anyone added a trace and gotten it to work?

That barrel is required to stabilize the spacebar better. If you cut down the spacebar it will be quite wobbly due to being unbalanced as well.

there isn't a contact there, so I don't think anyone has done this. But since you're adding a trace, you will be the first guy and if you succeed, I think you will have lots of people asking for photos.
