greetings - PB 1400 keyboard dreams
« on: Thu, 23 January 2014, 23:47:02 »
Greetings! newbie here – stumbled upon this site while diving searching for info on keyboards (of course) in relation to my ol' PowerBook 1400 – still my favorite laptop keyboard ever!

The trusty unit still runs - on OS 8!; but I've been toying with the idea of either putting effort into getting it connected to my LAN so that I can use it to type text and move that text to other, more modern apps for actual work, or... here's the real dream... pulling the keyboard out and wiring it up to be a USB unit I can use with other laptops (or even tablets).

Surprisingly, even though there's a fair amount online evangelizing the PB 1400's keyboard, there isn't a lot of info about how to hack it into an external keyboard (surely I'm not the first geek to have this idea?!).

Any thoughts or pointers welcome; otherwise, I look forward to looking through the conversations here to see what I can glean...
