Free: IBM model F spacebar stabilizer & Kishsaver labels
« on: Fri, 28 February 2014, 20:28:33 »
Model F spacebars are just like model M spacebars except that the diameter of the stabilizer wire is thinner.  i've made replacement stabilizers for myself and others that are thin in the middle but thick at the ends (so that you can use a new model M spacebar on a model F body). A description and the exact parts i use for the stabilizer are here:

I ordered the minimum i could of the wire - 25 pieces - so i have all this extra that i want to give away.

I am also printing a new Kishsaver label. For this, i'm using a sheet of letter size gold foil label stock that i already have, so again i have a lot more than what i need and would like to give this away too (i can fit 18 labels on a sheet). Pictures of what I can put on a label are here:

If you would like one or both, send me a PM. I'll need your postal address and the text that you want on the label.

As it says in the subject line, i'm not asking for any money - but i am encouraging everyone to consider donating to an animal shelter/rescue of YOUR choice.

I think i'm out.  Actually, i might have promised more stabilizers than what i can make with the supplies i have right now.

I'll put together a list of who is getting what and post in the Kishsaver Club thread shortly.

Wcass, you can bump me to the bottom of your list. My Model F spacebar conversion project is a long term project whereas I think most Kishsaver people are literally dying to use their kishsavers. Anyway I'm not using the two Model Fs which have spacebars drop out.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

A few of you said you wanted a label but didn't send me your "ID NO." and "DATE OF MFG." I take that to mean that you do not have OCD and don't care too much that the data on the back is an exact match to your specific board. In these cases, you will probably end up with my ID No. and date unless you tell me otherwise. I'll try to post a "proof" sheet here so that you can see what will be printed on your label before you get it.

I'm guessing here, but since everyone is asking for the label that looks just like the original, you probably want it to look just like the original. I just ordered a sheet of silver label stock, so everyone that requested a label will get a label in both gold and silver.

It will take 3 or 4 days for the label stock to get to me, so i'll likely mail stuff out next weekend. Muirium will be the proxy for Europe. If i don't have your address, make sure you get it to me (or Muirium).

I would love to have two of the spacebar wires if you feel like making them. I would gladly pay for your next batch of wire stock.

I forgot to mention how to peal the labels.

  • After you trim the label up, cut a piece of tape about 2" long.
  • Fold about a half inch of the tape over itself. You now have one inch of sticky and a half inch of non-sticky.
  • Put the sticky part on the top of the label with the non-sticky part extending out a side.
  • Make another piece of tape just like the first and stick it to the bottom directly below the first.
  • Peal the two pieces of tape apart. The label should come with one side and the backing with the other.
  • Place the label and then remove the tape.
Standard tape should not mar the label. I included a few extra labels that you can use to practice.
