Wow! Interesting board. It has the same layout as the IBM L40 laptop, but as a standalone board.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

IBM M4

This. And Oobly, you're right. It's the same board only standalone. I just bought the M4-1 from iMav. It's this board only with a trackpoint nub.

It's a rubber sleeve switch, but don't be discouraged by its material because it feels soooo smooth and "chalky".

Unicomp produced it as the mighty mouse for some years, but they dont appear to have it on their website anymore. I bet it's out of production.

There used to actually be a wesbite dedicated to this KB, but I cant find it now.

iMav, an admin, on this forum sold me my IBM M4-1 :D He's got a few more NEW for a really good price. PM him. I just got it and am typing on it right now.

I gotta say it's very tactile and has a nice thunky thunk keystroke. I love my RF 87U 55g but wow this keyboard has changed my mind about Topres. It really gives you that true IBM Model M buckling key switch feel but without the loud metallic spring sound. Instead, it's more of a rubbery thack. But don't get me wrong about the rubber. It's a good thing. Plus, it's not as heavy as a Model M and the travel distance is shorter.

The keystroke definitely feels shorter than an everyday 4mm travel on regular mechanical keyboards. It helps me type faster. You can't help bottoming out on this because of the short travel distance and because when you use the force it takes to push a key down, you end up going through the full stroke. But it really doesn't affect typing speed because the travel is shorter anyways.

The one thing I loved most about my Topre was that "thock" you get when you type. The M4-1 gives you a thockier thock that you can HEAR and FEEL! It's such a solid keystroke and I love that.

It's more of a laptop esque keyboard because it has rather flat keys although they're full size, and the board does ride lower than my other ones so I can't use my wrist rest with it, which is fine. I find it feels better to not even put it up on its kickstands. Plus, I got the Trackpoint in the middle of the board which is very stiff. I haven't been able to use it yet because I have to get a dual PS2 to single USB adapter which is on its way.

I think the site you're talking about is www.clickykeyboards.com
