A few dome boards, nice CPQ and four Cherries on the top!
« on: Tue, 18 February 2014, 18:56:53 »
Some info/pics/videos I wanted to share! Dome boards:

1) KME KB-8001r Turbo Plus [pics] [video] - generic chinese board, it has soooo many names - fe. "Turbo-Force", "Turbo-Xwing" (!). It sucks.
2) Silitek / Optimus SK9001R-2U [pics] [video] - quite nice! Silitek tries to hide domes under a steel plate. Nonetheless, I must say I enjoy typing on it. And it has pretty nice double-shots in many color variations! I haven't seen any board like this here :) Was it only our polish Optimus that rebranded it back in the day?
3) HP SK-2502c [pics] [video] - I've bought 5 HP boards so far in hope of finding something mechanical. Still no luck. Did they make only domes?
4) A4 KB-6 [pics] [video] - the one and only board from A4 I've found acceptable so far.
5) BTC / Packard Bell 5139 [pics] [video] - generic BTC board, nothing special.

And then there's...

6) Compaq Vocalist XL [pics] [video] - Funny board with kinky square plug for DeskPro series. It's sooo heavy, just like the other rubber Compaq boards from the '90 :) Got it in mint/boxed condition. PL caps. Full audio support, but this connector... It'll be time absorbing to create some sort of adapter for it.

And now... Quadra-Cherry-plate:

7) Cherry G83-610SLANDE [pics] [video] - for me it's the best rubber dome board so far... But there's a Dell QuietKey on it's way to me, so we'll see about that :) It's so quiet and precise! Love it!

8 ) Cherry MY 1800 USB [pics] [video] - by the time I bought it online I hadn't had any clue what MY stands for! I love MY switches for gaming, I think they're better than MX blacks. And to be fair I don't like them with "red MX ghetto mod" (springs removed). I just don't understand why people hate them so much. And yeah, I know - it's a DE version with stickers. Quick and dirty. Well it worked just FINE!

9) Cherry G80-2500HAU [pics] [video] - I know there already was a post about this model. I just thought about sharing a video of it in dry action.

10) Nixdorf 3299-N421-V001 [pics] [video] - and that's the last one! My personal keyboard ladies & gentlemen, I'm typing on it right now. Double-shots, cherry MX blacks. It rocks. This Esc key... It's just brilliant for me.

Any questions? Any answers? Any comments? :) Be my guest.

Loving that Nixdorf. Seems to be a rebranded Cherry G80-0528 which usually has NCR branding on it.

Yeah... I have two more with NCR logo but unfortunately with DE layout. I'm going to make some pics and video of them in the future :) And one has red leds under the caps!

Nice find on the Nixdorf. I don't think I've seen that exact configuration before. If you happen to want to sell one of DE NCR version of that for a good price please let me know.

Yeah, BTC uses MX-compatible in their 53 series, but I'm not sure if in all of them...

One of my NCR is already packed and ready for launch to Germany :)

I've added two strikingly similar boards - Alcatel MFII [pics]  [video] and Acer Accufeel 6312-k [pics]  [video]. I bought dozens of them on local Intenet sale - very nice boards, but this ES layout... Guess it's better than AZERTY.

I'm going to my workshop for MK45 and this other NCR, maybe I'll post about them today!

EDIT: Ok, I've uploaded a video here. Anyone knows what NCR model is this? Because someone removed the label from the back and now I'm stuck... PCB inside has only cherry markings.

As Photekq mentioned before, the NCR one is typically G80-0528. Though 528 is US layout, and back then Cherry hadn't started with the letters like HAU and gave a different number to each model instead... so it's probably something else like 529 or 532 or something like this. Usually it can be found on the PCB often on a paper sticker.

Yeah, I know - I was asking about NCR model no, I always use "rebranded" numbers when adding description to my site or video to yt. Typically it's found on a paper sticker on the back, but it's missing from my unit... Found it in some necro thread tho :) Thanks anyway!
