suggestions for a POS matrix keyboard, cherry pcb
« on: Sat, 22 February 2014, 19:29:26 »
Someone on gh has made me excited about trying out a POS matrix keyboard again, in order to test out some theories about layouts.

I would like to look for a Cherry MX PCB-mounted (so that I can swap in switches), at least 10 columns and 4 rows. IE smaller than minila. This has got to work with teensy since I will be using teensy to add programs. Preferably every key should be 1x1; don't want any oversized or multiwides.

I don't mind if size is substantially larger than 10x4 although I will only be limiting myself to the use of 10x4 for my experiment.

I am basically trying to figure out a 10x4 keyboard that can genuinely do everything with a combo of minimum movement and maximum number of triggerable keys and combos using only 1 other finger for triggering layers, and with sticky layers (eg capslock function) triggered by some keys. I also want to reduce spacebar to 1x1 since I always hit it in the same spot anyway.

Any suggestions? It goes without saying, keyboard should not cost a fortune and be reasonably easily available. Once again, I want Cherry MX so that I can put in clear switches and maybe a few clicky ghetto greens, so no Cherry G86s for me.

Yes, what you are looking for exists and can be purchased in several different sizes.

I have visited this site recently and unfortunately I cannot find it anymore. I should have bookmarked it.

But it won't be long before someone posts a link.

Here is something close to what you are looking for (but not enough columns):

Sorry for not being very helpful, but I know that what you are looking for is available out there.

thanks for the name Genovation, as it has helped me look at things on ebay.

if you come up with any other names or keywords, please go ahead and say. names and keywords facilitate searches.
