Looking for suggestions on Slim PC Speakers
« on: Wed, 26 February 2014, 14:44:05 »
I have an old 5.1 set and its clunky, the sub is huge - lots of wires.

I want a 2 speaker set that is ultra slim/sleek.  Not looking for great bass or quality - I have a stereo for that...just something that will not take up desk or floor space, and be nice to look at.

Suggestions?

They may not be the slimmest but the audio engine stuff sure is sleek.

Did you mean a couple inches slim?

Yea - I don't have a finite restriction, but just smaller the better.

Those speakers look like they are engineered for quality - I'm not looking for big specs or price tags.  Just want to hear the beeps and boops of the PC and some occasional youtubes.

Little bigger/more expensive than I was thinking, but these are nice looking

those bose ones are actually pretty good sound-wise
but pretty pricy for 2.0 speakers tbh

if you want just speakers that'll work, get the normal companion 2 series.

$60.00 for those, they sound fine, a little lacking in the bass obviously but priced good.

Just for reference, these speakers are great.  They have nice lows without needing a subwoofer.
Nothing ridiculous audiophile levels, but good for the size.
Do realize they're not small or slim

They're not slim but the Audioengine A2 are pretty small and are great speakers. If you just want two I'd get that pair

How about Altec Lansing FX2020? They are cheap, quite small, sound good (as far as small desktop PC speakers go) and are very easy to change the looks of if they don't do it for you stock.

I got these(Scythe Kro Craft Mini) when I wanted some small good looking PC speakers for the times I don't want to use my headphones.

They're not bad for the money, although they're passive so you need a place for the (somewhat shoddy) amp as well, but that can be mounted in a bay in your pc case.

I have been tossing around the idea of using one of these.  Mounted either above or below my monitor pointed at me, this would sound quite nice.  I also like the idea of it just using the optical out from my mobo and just a power cord.

These have been on sale as low as $50 recently.

While the T-20 and T-40 from Creative are great, they are fairly deep (15cm or so). I think i3oilermaker is looking for something a bit more slim.

By people suggesting the Creative T-40 for example. It's like having a 1,5L soda bottle on each side of your screen. :P

The Creative A80 would be a better suggestion for example. And quite cheap too!

not really loud enough or give enough bass tbh (i own the jambox mini and jambox 1st gen)
if you're gonna go the bluetooth speaker way, get the Bose Soundlink or the Soundlink Mini.

Not being a bose fanboy, but its really the best bluetooth speaker on the market right now.
And i've tried many of them, the JBL sticks, the Ultimate Ear Soundstick, etc.

I was actually going to recommend this:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EURJAKK/ref=s9_dcbhrz_bw_g147_i1_bs.  It's a basic little speaker with decent sound (if not too much volume), but for $25 and it having usb charging, it is worth looking at.

The $35 one has better bass and a mic if you wanted to go that route:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C4Q61Z6/ref=s9_dcbhrz_bw_g147_i3_pd
