Ever thought of using a video editing keyboard

Somehow I came across the above keyboard, and a thought popped into my mind.

I know out there there's some super geek who loves tinkering with these things. Have any of you considered turning something like this into a computer keyboard?

You could use a mixture of knob twists and key presses to produce a letter. How cool!

Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

That sounds terrible.

But you could definitely remove all the switches here, transplant them into a new case in a different shape, and have enough to type on. I wouldn’t recommend it though.

More usefully, you could build a custom keyboard using typical keyboard switches/caps, and add those sweet jog-wheels. [Although, it’s impossible to tell how nice they are without feeling them. There might be better ones to use instead.]

This Sony version had an original MSRP of >$2000, so the knobs might be pretty nice: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131111271805
