Good backlit keycap sets?
« on: Sat, 08 March 2014, 15:45:32 »
Hey everyone, I just put LED's in my poker2, and was wondering if anyone knew of any good backlit keycap sets?

I've used some of the cheaper sets that can be found on most production backlit boards, and they are quite frankly, crap.

I would really prefer a white keycap set if anything like that exist.

Thanks

- Jixr

i've used ducky, and they didn't really impress me.

But just for the lulz, I'd buy a crap set if I could find either white or green.

maybe a set from a deck keyboard? they are double-shot pbt. the bad thing is that the modifiers are weird.

xuanwumen might have some keycool ones on his aliexpress store. Just go to aliexpress.com and search for keycool. If he hasn't, you could always send him a PM and see if he will be getting anymore in stock.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

On a Deck Legend, Hassium or Francium the mods should be normal. You're talking the BL82 compact, right?

I was talking about Deck Legend. it has 5 1x on the right side of the spacebar

The Deck font is kind of hideous though, and you'll have to buy the board to get the caps.

Not in the Asia Pacific region though ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

For white keys, take a look at the GB keyset run by i3oilermaker.  Specifically the orange translucents on white.  He may still have extras (I got an extra set from him last week), so drop him a PM.

It's a really beautiful set, but the having them lit up was as not nice as I was hoping.  It's mostly because the keys are white, so the light ends up shining through everything and thus the legends don't really stand out.

edit:  my pics of these on a poker are here, although sorry no backlit pics.

Those aren't the PBT backlits though, although valid point.

Mainly because SP keycaps are too thin, so the light easily comes through the ABS layer

5 1x can still fit standard keyboards with a bit of space in between. That's not too bad.  I prefer that over Corsair's weird bottom row, or Razer's bottom row.
