« on: Sat, 08 March 2014, 20:49:40 »
Looking for either a Deck Legend PCB+Plate or a US layout G80-3000 with Win keys (preferably USB).

Thanks.

first time I've seen someone look specifically for a Deck Legend PCB. Any reason why?

I have a deck legend PCB and plate, but there's a problem either with the controller or the interface because I can't get the board to work. it's yours cheap if you want it.

Interesting, please PM me with more details such as age, interface type, previous owner / usage history, etc.

Thanks.

I need to use my HEROS enclosure, so I figure the Deck might be a good place to start if the spacing is workable.

The other option would be to buy direct from TG3.

What is a Heros enclosure? I tried googling and got a bunch of things from Kamen Rider to Heroes of Might and Magic.

As a Deck user, let me warn you that their spacebar is ridiculously rare. I have been holding off buying replacement spacebars precisely because it's such a pain and not worth it to buy from SP.

Actually you should consider asking TG3. Then at least you might get hold of totally brand new, 100% working Deck PCBs. Heck, if my Deck dies, I'll ask them. That might not be anytime within the next 10 years though.

Methinks the ideal is:

Deck PCB (the new type with standard layout similar to Ducky, Hassium or whatever)
Cherry clear switches
2x3x4 LEDs with SIP socket mod
aluminium casing similar to Ducky
cheapo ABS keycaps, Mionix or something - keep replacing them until Deck finally decides to get a tolerably nice looking font on its keycaps

I fear for TG3's MX line as they no longer seem to OEM for the Deck  line nor Data911.

Look for the HEROS Bundeswehr keyboard. It's in the Deskwiki, but I'm on my phone and too lazy to link you.

no wonder!

I once checked out these guys, but was quoted like $150 from Germany for standard shipping due to the ridiculous weight. If it is the same thing I checked out (looks the same), isn't it like 8kg?

Am totally astonished that it would require a Deck Legend PCB to function. You may as well just buy a Deck Legend and put it inside that monster!  :))

Yeah, it is a ridiculous piece of work, but I managed to get it pretty cheap on a GB with Greystoke.

It doesn't require a Deck per se, but I figure something with key spacing akin to the G80-3000 would have a better chance of fitting.

This is a last call. I've gotten in touch with TG3 and am preparing to acquire some parts for a reasonable price. Please PM me if you can make me a better offer.

The G80-3000 fits pretty well, but I'm still chasing a custom plate that will support the switches and have the right external dimensions to be bolted to the HEROS case.  I think part of my issue is that I got a G80 with ANSI layout, the Marquardt keyboard and stock plate is set up with ISO.

There was someone on DT who had a G80-3000 PCB (ISO) for sale, can't recall whom at the moment.  I bought a complete keyboard from eBay, which gave me a selection of switches and stuff to boot.

Does TG3 sell keycaps for their Francium or Hassium layout?

I don't know, but I can ask their parts rep and their sales rep. You want the double shot injection molded PBT keycaps right?

;D Do I need to reply, or were you expecting me to ask for Deck's 'targeted for the Asian market' (aka no different from Razer ABS) keycaps?  :p

Actually, while you're getting in touch with these guys, could you please ask whether they sell PCBs, plates, casings, etc. I don't have a specific project in mind at the moment, but I suspect the answer may be very welcome to many people on this forum. Deck's quality is top notch and I'm practically 100% sure that if people here can buy the PCB, plate and casing for Hassium/Francium, they'll buy and solder in their own Cherry clears which currently Deck does not offer.

That's true. Some guys may just want the Deck ABS keycaps for their Razer  :p
