We need a group buy for this Tipro deal!
« on: Thu, 10 April 2014, 17:22:37 »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TIPRO-SHS-KM096C-5W-19955-KEYBOARDS-52-UNITS-/221413969230?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item338d4d0d4e

52 Tipros for $250 only? Not even five measly bucks per board! (Consider it $10 in case half the boards are just spare parts.)

I'd like a couple of working boards, so that makes 4.

Still need 12 more people who want 2 working boards each (4 per person). Who's up for this deal?

You need to keep in mind freight shipping is not cheap and can easily double that price if not more.

Then the person getting the shipment has to ship again to individuals, so add more there.

If you need to buy two to get one workable, again double.

Still a decent deal if you like Cherry Blacks.

seller has refused to sell them separately.

wtf, he thinks there's some thrift store retailer out there stingy enough to buy 52 second hand POS and repair them for a couple dozen cash registers? this really needs to be sold separately.

hey, Ebacho, if you're out there, interested in this? Could be right up your alley.

Please forgive my ignorance--what are these good for?  Are they just for harvesting the black switches inside and to use as a switch testing board?

Plate mounted?

Also depending on individual shipping costs I could be interested.

I think the problem is freight shipping.  I can't exactly ship a pallet of these to my dorm room.

If someone else can organize it might be good - but some look like they're in pretty rough shape, so I'd be cautious.

either harvesting or screwing around (if you have the unit that plugs into a regular computer)

If we can get somebody to buy them all and strip for parts, GH could have an ample supply of blacks and random caps. Not including shipping, each unit is ~$5, putting the ~96 blacks on each for slightly over 5 cents, which is way below the 20 cents that used blacks go for. Plus you get caps for whatever you want to do with them

but pretty much the only value is in stripping for parts, theyre too beat up otherwise

Used blacks from a dirty environment are pretty awful.  I've owned enough WYSE boards to know this.

There's another lot for numpads http://www.ebay.com/itm/TIPRO-SHS-KM032E-19959-Keyboard-Lot-of-16-/221414004183?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item338d4d95d7

EDIT: Also, as other people have pointed out, freight shipping is not cheap, UPS even less so from my experience.
