Hello,
I'm student of Computer Science in Helsinki, Finland and I'm just starting my journey with keyboards. I've been messing around with computers and Internet for years but somehow haven't never used any time to improve my typing in both technique and equipment wise. Just now when I've started programming as part of my studies I've noticed that there's lots of room for improvement. Only just recently took time to learn touch typing properly and now got my first mechanical keyboard - It's Rosewill RK-9000 with Cherry MX Blue switches (already loving the sound of Blues
).
Now it only needs some keycap-customization but I'm sure it'll be done in no time. I've been reading this forum for couple of days and I'm starting to get brainwashed with keycaps too
Already ordered 'some' hammers and sickles to fill my function row and we'll see what future holds. Nordic ISO-layout will probably limit things that I can do with my everyday keyboard (not that into blanks either - I like my things labeled
) but maybe if get too much sucked into this hobby I just need to get another keyboard only to show off custom keysets/-caps... I just have to keep in my mind that I'm poor student that already uses all his money to vinyls and HiFi sound system improvements... but can never have too many hobbies
When visiting my parents house next time I'll definitely pay visit to their garage. My mother is typist and father has had home computers from early 80's so I need to check if they have any treasures covered with dust...
Btw. Somehow haven't bumped into this 'Simple Machines Forum' -software before but seem to be pretty awesome from user point of view.
