Switch Help
« on: Fri, 18 April 2014, 13:30:51 »
For my new keyboard I am planning to build I am wanting to get some clear switches but as they are quite hard to find I was thinking of getting some brows and putting in some new springs in them. I was wondering if there is anything else I would need to do to make them more 'clearier' or if that would be all I need to do?

So some options:

1) Put 80g springs in the Brown Switches. From my testing, I found it feels very similar to Clears.
2) You can get them new from MK.com here
3) You can get them from this keyboard here

Buy some Clears and swap out both the stems AND springs.

A stronger spring on its own will tend to minimise the already small tactile bump of Browns.

I would actually recommend going all the way to 62g ErgoClears by buying Clears AND 62g springs and using the stems from the Clears with the 62g springs in the housing of the Browns. Best feeling switch IMHO. You can also use a stock Clear spring in the space bar switch, though, to help even out the feeling.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.
