Deck Francium Pro LED/Replacement caps
« on: Thu, 01 May 2014, 11:39:26 »
Hello,
I am making this topic because I recently purchased a Deck Francium Pro from mechkb and I have a few questions/concerns. First I would like to know if there is a way to make it so that the N-key roll-over feature or "F10" is lit when booting up my pc. Every time I restart my pc the keyboard goes to default mode which is reactive lighting and keys F10-PN are not lit. Is there any way to make it so that every time I turn the KB on it is exactly how I left it? Also, how do you keep the "PN" key lit? I know it has a function but I don't use that function I just want it to stay lit, maybe it's impossible, just want to confirm that for sure. Also, does this keyboard have the "per-key" lighting where I can make any light I want illuminated while the rest are off? Doesn't give me the option to while cycling through the "FN-F9" modes so I also wanted to confirm that. Finally, I really am not a fan of the legends and would like some replacement caps. However now that I have felt the glory that is PBT, I cannot go back. So I have been looking through a few on Mechkb website and the Ducky grey/blue ones look really nice. However I have heard that the vortex doubleshots look nice with the LED's. Can anyone confirm this. Sorry if this seems like a lot of questions but I want to push this board to be the best one I have ever owned. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! :D

I have the Hassium Pro, the non-tkl version of the Francium.  Really love it so far.

Your problem with the lighting mode sounds like a problem I initially had upon receiving mine.  It would crash whenever I booted up the computer with it plugged in and, like yours, wouldn't retain the mode I set through power cycles.  Turns out it was the firmware.  Using the utility and firmware from http://www.deckkeyboards.com/node/52 I updated it and everything started working flawlessly.

I don't know that you can get the PN key to stay lit as its used to program the keyboard and only lights up then I believe.

I'm pretty sure that you can set which keys are lit through the use of the LED scripting that the keyboard supports.  Its a bit beyond me, so the most I've done there is install some scripts someone else wrote that are available in mechkb.com's forum.

I agree with you about the awesomeness of the PBT caps, but rather like the font of the legends quite a bit.  Good luck on your search for ones you like.  Be aware the I think one or two keys, such as the Windows key are a non-standard size.

Thank you very much for your reply and link, tested the new firmware and upon restart, everything works perfectly. Also, I believe that the windows/alt buttons are all the same size as ducky keyboards as well as the space-bar. Perhaps I will try out the these: http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=865 and see if how they look with the Deck...
