EK order issue NO STOCK... (RF 55gr)
« on: Tue, 13 May 2014, 01:14:12 »
OMG... I received this morning an email from EK support...  I'm not going to enjoy the RF 55gr that I finally bought after weeks of thinking and thinking.  Just wanna jump through the window...  Very, very disappointed. No stock until July...
Is there anyone in the same situation?

OTOH there is good news - they ARE getting more stock in!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yeah, I'm pretty convinced I'll be in love with that board (once I get one)
The warning about how heavy the force is makes me laugh. I really want a heavy board!!!

I hate blacks, but I love the RF 55g and MX Clears. It's likely I hate linear switches. As long as they are stocking up, there's nothing to fear, OP.

MX Blacks are... OK... I feel the same though. Clears, Greens, and Tactile Grey are great.

There's blacks and there's blacks.

I have three keyboards with blacks - a Link terminal keyboard (smoothest blacks I have used - they should be vintage blacks by the date of the terminal, but the logo on the switches seems to indicate they are not), QFR (nearly as smooth, but not quite), and Ducky Shine Yellow Edition (least smooth of the three).

you havent even used one? then it's not real! it doesn't exist! it has no bearing on your being!

that said if you want heavy get a model M  and quit mucking about with 'comfort' keyboards.

Rly now?

Hahah, I was thinking the same thing.

Not about what it means but about what his post sounded like. But not like what it sounded like but what it sounded like he was insinuating...

Bah forget it.  :blank:

What?

Of all the switches I have used, I dislike Blacks the most and will ask any of my friends who want my opinion to stay away from Blacks. It feels like pumping air when typing and often I thought I heard the swoosh of air pushed out of the switches. I've tried this daily for about a month and sold the board in disgust.

Oh.. Wait...

Replace Blacks with MX Blacks... This is sensitive matters!!

OTOH there is good news - they ARE getting more stock in!

If you really want the 55g's then you pay up now because when the next shipment arrives they'll only go out to first come, first served.

Risky I know because Brian will be sitting on your money past the famous 45 day limit and you'll be at his mercy, when or if you will ever see a keyboard or money back from him  ;D .  Always good to use Paypal because it saves you from losing it permanently.

Except that's just a hold/authorization. You aren't actually charged until your order is processed for cases like these

I too really wanted to get a uniform 55g. I've never used Topre before, but I don't think I'd like variable switches.
Can someone please recommend which switch I should go for, uniform 45g or 55g?
Btw, from the keyboards I've used, my order of preference from first to last would be: Brown > Blue > A Good Membrane(!) > Clear (thinking of modding to ergo)
Thanks!

You'll probably like both but you might have a slight preference for 55 over 45 based off brown and blue as your top two choices
