Well, in my projects area (i.e. the part of my brain that says "That's a great idea, do it!" without any real thought as to how I will actually accomplish the project) I had the idea of making my own version of an IBM TrackPoint Keyboard such as the venerable M13 or the SpaceSaverII.

Anyways, I was browsing through eBay - and ended up buying an IBM ScrollPoint Mouse on the off-chance I could cannibalise it.

So far I have just taken it apart to have a look at it (bit disappointed), and think that it MIGHT be doable.

So here are to photos of it.  Don't know if I'll update this thread further, but thought this might be helpful for anyone else looking into this.

The ScrollPoint is connected via soldered ribbon cable to the mouse circuit board (I was hoping it would be plugged).  However, it may still be usable if one can work out the pin-outs and if they can translate directly to mouse movements instead of scroll movements (can't see why not)
