New HHKB question
« on: Mon, 09 June 2014, 06:18:51 »
Hi,

I have recently received and started using my first non-rubber dome keyboard, a hhkb pro2 from EK. I like the feel but am still not totally adjusted to the layout, despite having used a 60% apple scissor switch keyboard. I also replaced my mouse based on recommendations from this forum and got myself a zowie ec2.

One question about the hhkb. I really can't work out how to set the dip switches to get the backspace/delete functionality I want. I have switched the delete/backspace functionality so that when I hit delete, the keyboard will backspace.

Currently to delete I need to hit option+~. I would really like to be able to hit command+delete to delete and then just delete to backspace. Does anyone know if this is possible. Any links to the setup of the dip switches?

Thanks for the help,
Muz

PS: Feel free to move to another forum if you don't think that this is hello enough :)

Have you turned on both SW1 and SW2? I know it says N/A, but everything functions properly on my HHKBs with them both on.

I think the setup you want would be SW1, SW2, SW3, and SW4 on.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the response. I turned all the dip switches to on, but I still don't have the required functionality.

I would ideally like to emulate the functionality of my apple keyboard in terms of the delete/backspace functionality. I assumed that it would be pretty common among hhkb users.

Just to be clear. Ideally I would like to to hit the delete/backspace key to backspace and then command or alt + delete/backspace to delete.

The dip switch settings that you provided mean that to delete, I hit the command+~ key. It's not the end of the world. It probably just takes a bit of getting used to.

Thanks again for your help.

Don't have Mac, so not sure if Mac mode might change it. Fn + Backspace gives me delete on Windows. Works swapping meta and alt as well.

Work on a Linux machine. I will have a play. Thanks so much for the help. I'm starting to get used to the command+~ to delete now.
