Poker II question about changing key functions
« on: Mon, 09 June 2014, 19:21:52 »
Hello...
So, I switched a couple of the dip switches on my poker II and made the caps lock change to the function key which is very awesome, but at the same time I lost the windows key's ability.  Is there anyway I can have both?
I don't want to move the function key from next to PN.  I want that button in two places: Next to PN and instead of Caps Lock...

Anyway to achieve this?

Thanks

Does anyone have any accessories or key caps or other poker 2 related things lying around that they are not using?  I don't mind taking it off your hands if you no longer want it...

I would like to know the answer too since i'm also waiting for my Poker 2 to arrive :)

As i've read somewhere, it should be possible to remap win key using autohotkey program (after using dip-switch 1 and 3), but i never used it.
I find the windows key useful for various shortcuts, mainly Win+D, Win+E, and i would like to have capslock on ctrl+capslock or something else that won't use main keys.

Also, as you've stated i would like to use both fn keys (left one for accessing f-keys while holding a mouse and right one for accesing delete, page up etc.).

Any Poker 2 expert around?

There might be a way to it with AutoHotKey, but I'd prefer a way that will actually change the key's function, instead of tricking it using software... if that makes any sense...

I know that if you hold PN+ windows, it will activatate the windows button and open the start menu, but I have yet to be able to do PN+ win+ D... it doesn't work that way I guess....

You could also program PN +D to do Win + D, but I think Win + D and all other Windows functions would be better using the windows key if possible....

I forgot, but there is a way, to use a combination of some other keys to activate capslock.. . so that function won't be lost if we can replace the button's function ...

I just set this up last  night.

Caps lock = fn
windows = windows

However I needed to leave the programming layer toggled on permanently which doesn't bother me but may bother you. In order to get this working there are a few steps which messed me up setting it up.
Step 1: Swap windows and caps lock with dip switches
Step 2: program windows key to windows
enable programming
hit windows
hit caps (cause its now windows)
hit pn
disable programming
Step 3: swap win with fn.

This will leave you with caps set to fn and windows set to windows (on the programming layer) which is the best you're going to get as far as I could tell.

Not to derail, but question for you Poker II guys.

Any way to move the PN button to be the one immediately to the right of the spacebar?  Without software assistance.

No  :( I really wanted to swap pn and alt on the right side of mine, but it isn't possible. You can program the fn layer of keys, but you cannot program a key to be fn.
