This new wave of carnival keyboards is getting silly, but I am sure they will sell plenty.

Surely Deck will get in on the action with the all new...wait for it.... Deck-otara  ;D

Wait a minute … are those Alps clone clones?

It looks like someone's tried to clone Matias switches really badly, since the base is still opaque black and the LED seems to be inside the switch, therefore limiting it to linear.

I still don't get why Matias never added a linear switch to their switch range considering how popular MX red is for gaming, as well as MX black. All they'd have to do to replicate MX red is take out the click leaf, surely?

I've given up with Datacomp — they're a waste of space, since they've had these switches (Alps/clones, not the transparent variety specifically) for several years and seem determined to stop anyone knowing they exist. I have no idea what's going on — one source told me they're real Alps switches (i.e. they bought the mould machine from Forward Electronics, who made the simplified Alps switches and most likely a lot of complicated Alps switches, so it's like Unicomp keyboards: different company, but same product line).

However, the Datacomp website doesn't mention them, and Datacomp have been ignoring me for over a year.

Screw them.

From what Matias says Retailers are lazy and hate excess SKU's.  Another reason why a PC version of the Tactile Pro doesn't exist which is crazy considering how popular MX Blues are.

I think these might be sold to them by Matias, but you’d have to ask him directly to be sure. He was hinting about the possibility of linear switches at some point in the past.

If those are Matias switches, why are the switch bases opaque? It also appears that the LED is inside the switch, but it's hard to tell as the video quality is far too low.

Hard to tell. You could be right though.

It's those T flaps that don't look right to me -- they don't appear to transmit much light, when they should be fully transparent. Since the base clearly doesn't pass a lot of light, the LED cannot be underneath the base of the switch, unless it's got a hole for a light guide cut into it.
