It looks to be the same PBT dyesubs I'm using right now from another Royal Typewriter.  I can't say with absolute certainty, but if you're willing to take a chance, you could get yourself some awesome alphas and partial mods.

here's a satellite 4 for $5 more BIN

on both of these, they are listed in the GH & DT "list" of typewriters with MX compatible keycaps.

Yes the sattelite 4 is a safe choice, the 8 seems suspect to me with that weird enter.

I think that's the same enter mine had.  It was an oddly large one.  The caps have that non-shiny PBT look and identical legends, so I think it is MX compatible.

So, it's not cool to get a Leading Edge for just the blue Alps, but totally fine to get a working typerwriter just to harvest the keycaps?

I still have the TA typewriter Badwrench picked up for me in San Diego.  I just use the caps on my keyboard.  The typewriter is still functional and sitting there.  There was no destruction on anything and the caps can be placed back on it.  The buyer of this can do the same.   So how is that a contradiction to stating that a solid keyboard is good for more than just switch harvesting?

You probably don't use it, but I suppose that's better than just tossing it afterwards.

The Alpha line has the green doubleshots (or dyesub), betas have the medium grey/blue doubleshots.

Satellite 4 just ended without anyone buying it...guess they didn't want my best offer of $30.00.

probably 'cause I also offered $30.

edit: I guess it only shows one offer, so I think I killed the tab before it submitted.

Hehe, yeah good taste. I am guessing they might relist it soon...and then we can do battle once more! Bwahahahahaha.

Satellite 4 came with a double shot key, I have no idea why they do that instead of dye-sub like the rest of the keys. Also, be careful when buying these, mine appeared ****ing shiny :(
