I believe the P stands for linear, so blacks.

XPoint: Someone abbreviated Crosspoint (or Gold Crosspoint). It's how the contact inside the switch is designed.

Here are a few pictures showing the crosspoint contact inside Cherry MX switches (about half way down the page).

The link comes from Chloe's Cherry Switches Wiki page.

If you are interested in getting this keyboard, I suggest you try getting someone on the phone from POSGlobal: not an easy task. The system might let you create the order even though they don't any in stock.

Does anybody know what causes the click SOUND on a blue cherry switch?

It looks like it's caused by the white plastic part hitting the blue part. That would explain the plasticy sound. Webwit described it as "artificial", which is my thought when I switch in a Blue Cherry board for a Model M BS.

Chloe's link is in Japanese and but it seems to indicate vibration and something in that little exclamation bubble as the switch contacts are made.

You're exactly right.  On that same site, there is an animation of how it works.  Basically, the white plastic piece is butted up against the top of the switch and as it passes over the mechanism, the white plastic piece falls and clicks against the stem.

Did anyone else find that animation strangely erotic?

Well, the switch is made by a company called "Cherry."

OK - now I got it.  The white part springs DOWN.  I thought it would go up.  It's actually hitting the tabs on the blue stem causing the sound (and some spring vibration).

I don't, what's causing the white part to go down in the last step?

It appears to be the lack of upward resistance from the leaf.  Once it gets past the leaf, the white piece falls.

There might be a spring in the white piece pushing down.
