Keyboard Tracking System

Anyone ever considered putting a GPS tracker inside your keyboard in case it was stolen OR lost by USPS??

OR perhaps have a built in chip on a custom board that sends out some signal so you could track that....

Thoughts/Ideas?

Depending on the value of the item in question, the cost of a GPS tracking device may or may not be worth the investment.

Maybe not GPS, but if you were able to embed code in the firmware that could ping a server over the Internet, you might be able to locate it via IP.

Since it'd be a wired keyboard, whomever steals your keyboard will more than likely plug it into a computer. That computer will also more-than-likely be connected to the Internet, so it might be possible.

I've shipped other items through USPS for years and never had any issues, is this a common thing for keyboards or something? Seems a bit excessive.

GPS tracking for custom keycaps,e specially the rare CCs, sounds like a good idea too!

Unless GPS hardware has decreased in size, this would only be applicable to giant-sized keycaps.

For the record to anyone who might be serious enough to attempt this: placing active tracking devices inside parcels violates the terms of a at least a few shipping companies, DHL among them.
