Looking for square cherry mx keycaps
« on: Tue, 08 January 2013, 11:24:33 »
I'm trying to find some square keycaps (like http://stenografia.pl/stenotypia/button-caps-theory.png), single and 2x tall. I googled around for a few hours and couldn't really find anything. I plan to make a custom PCB with 22 Cherry MX blue switches in the standard steno layout (http://www.spurgerreporting.com/keyboard.gif). Has anyone seen any keycaps at all like this?

there are some 2x1 relegendable POS keys, and some that a lot of people may have picked up in  the recent SP crap bag sale, those might suit your needs

These are probably the most 'square' flat keys for MX compatible you are likely to find.

I am writing this to permanently remind myself that this is most useful msg I have ever read about keycaps!  You just completely blew my mind!

That stenografia link didn't work for me. Sp has flat caps for $2 each at the link dorkvader posted.

BTW i'd probably be interested in a pcb for a steno board as well. Are you planning to use Plover?

What's with all the thread necros recently?
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Does anyone have a copy of this image? I've seen it mentioned a couple of times on steno pages and I'm curious about what it contains. I guess it's a picture of a square keycap.

Link is broken.

Link was nearly 7 months ago - probably to one of the boards that has been deleted.  Not much I can do about it :(

I'm a 45th level Necromancer.  I have Resurrection, Raise Dead, Summon Necromancer, Zombie and numerous other Necromancy spells in my spellbook.  :p

There is another guy in a current thread who is trying to manufacture square cherry mx keycaps and he would be interested to see this thread.
