Do you talk about swarms of jackdaws or just regular crows?

And hello! Not in the 'saunas, saunas everywhere' -phase yet? :p

I hope you'll enjoy your stay!

hello, BOREDOM, BOREDOM, ENDLESS BOREDOM.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I don't think that there's any difference in the deposit or withdrawal times of the banks. S-Pankki offers the most of the basic services without additional costs so most of those who don't have big loans or stock investments take that. They don't have websites in English though... Only Nordea, Osuuspankki and Danske Bank seem to have those and from them Nordea is probably the best for most.

Osuuspankki always treated me well, but I use LähiTapiola now since my wife works there. Most are good, but I stay clear of Nordea due to having received poor customer service from one of their branches.

Actually, chatting with my wife earlier about this she brought up the issue of banking fees. S-Pankki / LähiTapiola don't charge for online banking, withdrawals and bill payments and have no monthly fees for standard accounts and no fees on credit card purchases. All the other banks do have at least some of these (but Osuuspankki at least don't charge for withdrawal or credit card purchases, but you do pay to use online banking and they have monthly account fees). Don't know about the speed of Paypal transfers, etc, though.

I've been very happy with both so far.

Theaters, as in movie theaters? Finnkino seems to be the biggest chain.

What comes to english service, it's pretty much luck of the draw, some clerks english might be appalling others amazing but in general you should get by just fine with english.

Finnkino is the biggest (and only, lol) movie theater franchise around here. That's your choice for mainstream movies and new releases.

If you are in Helsinki, there are other choices too. Orion movie theatre (or National Audivisual Institute, if you are byrocratically inclined https://kavi.fi/fi/ohjelmisto/information-english) on Eerikinkatu has great selection of vintage movies tuesday through friday. There's also Kino Engel for indie and arthouse cinema, right next to the big white curch downtown.

And of course the Helsinki International Film Festival is coming up in September so great movies then all around the town.

Yeah. I'm planning on lobbying "big white church downton" as the official name. Helsinki Cathedral just doesn't have the same appeal for me.
