I am currently using a Unicomp full size keyboard. I will soon, probably, be having to move my keyboard due to moving away for university, however I believe that the size of the Unicomp is somewhat challenging to deal with. I am, therefore, looking for a small keyboard that I can buy in the UK.

The layout of the HHKB is ideal, I think, however I am put off by the price.

Are there other ideas?

There are Filcos coming out soon in the UK from Keyboardco. If you look at some of the more recent threads, you'll see some info about it, it was announced a day or two ago.

I must say that recently I researched the smaller Filcos and was interested, however are there any other options.

A model M mini.
I had to sell mine but would have kept it if I could have. Very nice compact board.
What is it about the Filco boards you don't like?
You can have a choice of 4 switch types and they are very well made.
You won't find anything else like the HH and realforce 87 though.

If you restrict yourself to buying from the UK, the only other options are some of the compact Cherry boards which are nowhere near as nice as the Filcos. If you decided to include the US, you could consider a Model M Spacesaver, which are pricey and rare though. They would be worth the money however, but no moreso than the Filcos.

With respect to buckling spring, how are the Cherry Blue Switches in terms of typing?

That didn't last long. Looks like there's only one live auction right now and it's at $107.50 with a couple hours left. I think that last batch went cheap because there were like four or five of them up at the same time.

To tide you over, you could get this HHKB Lite off ebay, but the shipping is insanely high. Maybe they would reduce it if they were contacted.
