Hey guys!
« on: Thu, 09 October 2014, 22:25:08 »
Guess i should introduce myself. I've been lurking geekhack and /r/mechanicalkeyboards for a good ~6 months, and i decided i should make an account here! i don't have any mechanical keyboards yet, but i've been looking for a good deal on a poker 2 with cherry mx browns for a while. I reeeeaaally want a hhkb pro 2, but i don't have $250ish to spare :( but anyway, still really excited to get my first mk soon enough.

Welcome to the community! Nice to see another lurker come out of their cave. On a serious note though what lead you to choose the Brown switches? And what is it that made you choose the 60% form factor?

Welcome to Geekhack!

Poker II with browns?  Have a look on qtan's store: http://www.vendio.com/stores/E-sports-Gaming-equipments/category/cateogry1-name/catId=3982940
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I thought browns would be a nice middle ground between a clicky keyboard and a tactile one. I think blues are a bit too loud, clears might be a bit too heavy, and reds just seemed not tactile enough. And the 60% form factor just looks really clean imo. And thanks guys for the welcome :)

Well for me I'm also considering getting Poker II with browns and I already have a Filco with Blues and another Filco TKL with Reds and I like them both very much and I can't decide which one to use. So I decide I would get "both" by having the lightness of the reds combined with that little tactile feedback of the blues!
