It's certainly not worth $70.

I don't remember much about them, but I do remember that they're not very highly regarded.

I could be wrong but I believe it was because it used infrared.

Well... at least it's not its chiclet predecessor which was widely credited for being the biggest reason the PC Jr flopped.

As a history piece, it might be cool to own. But as something you intend to use, your typical pack-in Dell keyboard is likely better feeling.

Also the chiclet version regularly makes the rounds as a contender for the "worst keyboard ever made". Some of the major complaints with it also apply to this version.

I find it interesting to note that this is one of the earlier RD keyboards. While there do exist much older ones (univac for example) I see it as one of the forefront of the RD invasion. HP and honeywell (for some) followed not long after and we all know what happened in the early 1990s.

Famous for being perhaps the worst OEM keyboard of all time.  Not joking.

Thanks for the information everyone.

Will be blacklisting this keyboard from my purchase list permanently as I don't really see the point in owning something I cannot use (and has a terrible reputation).

It is funny though as I would probably buy one if it was local and was only $10 or something just for the fun of having one of the worlds worst keyboards.  :p

On a side note I did a bit of research (quick wiki check) and apparently Kings Quest was originally designed for the specific computer that this goes with keyboard which makes me feel warm and fuzzy for some reason.

I have a PCjr and can tell you the chicklet keyboard is really bad. It feels like typing on a pad of foam. Also while it can be wired it is a wireless keyboard that uses IR to connect. Kinda annoying since you have to be pointing directly at the PC for it to work.

Edit: found a photo of mine. It feels close to if you took a keycap and placed it on top of a Grifiti wristwrest, just a little less stiff. I think it would make a cool keyboard if someone remade it with MX switches.

The wireless also was famous for having issues.

I could be wrong but I believe it was because it used infrared.

It does, and it's really finicky. The little black disk on the PCjr is the IR sensor that the keyboard has to be pointed at in order to type. Funnily you can mess with people by pointing your keyboard at their PCjr and making it look like a ghost is typing.  :p

The chiclet keyboard must be terrible in use but I do think the design is absolutely gorgeous. Guess it's another example of a case where the designer treated the job as if he was making a piece of art that doesn't have a function to fulfill. I'd put it in a display case if I had the room to collect random objects like that. :P
