Ducky caps on a Filco keyboard
« on: Sat, 01 November 2014, 14:02:18 »
Hi Geekhackers!

Do anyone of you guys know if a set of Ducky keycaps (PBT) will fit on a Filco keyboard? Especially the spacebar.

Cheers

some ducky caps are thick (the sets with 2 base colors) that MAY have issues (i haven't heard of any ever)

the other ones will all be fine no problem.

just make sure you insert the white pegs on the larger keys in correctly.

I put Ducky caps on my Filco. Works just fine, though I had to carve some plastic from the backspace key so the stabilizer didn't hit the plastic. Except for that it works like a charm!

Proof:
Filco TKL (mx browns) + Ducky PBT caps
Poker II (mx blues)
Keycool 22 key numpad (blue Kailh)

I have used a Filco set on a Ducky keyboard, so the reverse (Ducky on Filco) would also work.

Provided both are ANSI (or both ISO)!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Why do that?
You can just buy original filco keyset. It's good.

Indeed. I just happen to have a spare Ducky PBT (not the thick) set. Making keycap/keyboard plans is my new hobby  :D
