Num Pad as 4x5 Matrix
« on: Sat, 22 November 2014, 13:21:32 »
I am doing another M122 for myself again, and this one I want to try something a little different: I almost NEVER use the numPad as intended, I just don't do enough data entry to use it, once in a while maybe, but not much at all.
So, I was thinking of putting a few extra hammers in, and turning it into a 4 wide x 5 high 1u key matrix and using the keys as either application launch buttons, or more likely for me: Text expander buttons, or shortcuts.
The matrix should support this, and the toughest part will be getting the keys I want made up, but as far as the idea of a 4x5 key pad instead of a num pad, what do you think?

What would you use it for, and has anyone done something similar?
