Has anyone here had their name / email list spoofed?
« on: Sun, 16 November 2014, 21:09:03 »
My wife's email account has probably been hacked in some way - as someone is using her name and sending out Emails to people in her email address list (I'm on it.)

Does anyone know what can be done other than the obvious (changing email addresses / warning others.)?

update: The email address that the email originated from is not hers - but is still using her name.

Backscattering.

At work we had a huge spate of that a year or so ago.

Eventually it will just fade away.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thank you - wasn't even sure what this activity was called.  I guess we'll just have to wait it out and warn potential victims.
