Hello Geekhackers,
So I've been a lurker here since forever but I finally got tired of using Google to search these forums and decided to register an account. This isn't the only place I have talked about keyboards; I also post on Reddit. No I don't join in on the circlejerk on a certain subreddit.
In addition to keyboards (a very recent addition to my enthusiasms), I'm also a lover of tech in general and I've been a part of PC websites, gaming websites, audio websites, photography websites, etc..
I've kinda been burned out on forums over the last ~5 years I believe since for a while I found that newer social media became a superlative form of communication however, over the last year and a half, they've leaned over too hard into the marketing side of things and I can't take them seriously either, so I wanna go back to forums and leave my FB for posting occasional photos and in groups (the most useful feature IMO) and my Twitter for being a sarcastic ass with one-liners that no one significant will actually read. In fact, the earliest forums I participated in and had some prolificness on was Command & Conquer dedicated forums for the mod scene. Branched out to others from there but obviously with much weaker spread.
Anyway enough of all that background, you probably wanna know what equipment I use and my somewhat plebian selections so far are:
1. For home use: WASD Code TKL MX Green: This keyboard is pretty awesome. Love the resistance of the greens and it was my first Mechanical daily driver coming from the decent for a rubber dome Logitech G15 (1st gen).
2. For office use: CM Storm Quickfire TK with MX Browns: Honestly got this because the slim rubber dome Lenovo keyboard I had was way too frustrating and I found it for cheap on Amazon ($60 I believe) and picked the brown because of noise concerns and the white LEDs, but tbh the combined numpad and nav keys are a pain and I'm probably going to sell it soon and just get a full size 104-key board. Also browns are kinda meh, so might try Reds. Clears would be cool as well but definitely expensive as a replacement option.
3. Coming soon for fun: MX Clear Poker II from Massdrop. Wanna use this to learn Colemak since my QWERTY touch typing isn't all that fast anyway. Can also use it for traveling purposes so I will never be mech-less.
Don't think I'll be a prolific poster here, but nice to meet you all
