"My name is kaboomd and i'm addicted to keyboards"
So I figure I might fit in pretty well here.

I ended up finding this site because i'd had a bit of extra time on my hands recently and decided to find myself a hobby. I was a hardcore gamer for awhile, up until a few years ago when my priorities changed and I just no longer had the time for it. So I decided I'd get back into casually gaming again. To do that I needed to get a new computer since I only had a laptop for school. While browsing online to learn which pc would be optimal to buy, I learned (as many do) how much money I could save by building my own instead. So I figured Hey! theres another thing I could do/learn in my spare time. As a longish time redditor my search to learn more about building my own pc eventually lead to /r/MechanicalKeyboards, and I was hooked. After being linked to GH from there a few times and checking this site out, I figured that I oughta join.

I wanted to start with a backlit keyboard for my first mech because I had really enjoyed the rubber dome I used to game with (setiek something or other) that had a few colors. After figuring i'd like the tactical response, I got a corsair k70 RGB with browns last week (right when I finished my computer) which I love so far. However, after realizing that since I don't spend my time on the computer just staring at the keyboard, backliting isn't as big of a deal to me. With that and wanting to try out other switches, I just ordered CM storm quick fire stealth /w blues from the massdrop . Even though I'm super excited for that, I'm already wanting to get a poker II to try out haha.

And thats about it

Welcome to Geekhack!

As you are about to find out, this can become an expensive hobby.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
