Is anyone interested in just the mods of a keycap set?
« on: Mon, 08 December 2014, 03:54:25 »
I have collected many keycap sets over time and don't need them at all.

Now the only use I even have for them would be for the 1u parts, since I use matrix keyboards.

I have been trying to sell the complete sets on my threads but not successfully. So I am wondering if I can sell just the mods and multiwides for half price.

Is there demand? Just post your views. It takes a lot of time to lay out keycap sets and take photos.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

I'd say no. I would much rather buy a complete set than just the mods unless they match an existing set I already have in terms of profile, material and contrasting but still suitable colour. I would say there aren't many sets that would fit those criteria. If the full sets aren't selling, I doubt just the mods will.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Just list the set names and we'll be able to search for them. I'm definitely interested in buying the mods for some sets.

This. Mods only is definitely a niche product, but depending on the set I might be more interested in the mods than a full set.

If you have any original doubleshot Cherry mod sets I would definitely be interested!

Seems I am in the minority :) Which is a good thing in this case.

Well for starters, on my thread I have 3 Vortex doubleshot thick PBT sets that haven't sold. I could sell their mods at half off.

I haven't taken part in many group buys, but if some people want only the mods from a group buy involving SA or DSA, feel free to contact me the next time you want to buy something whether from classifieds or from the group buy. If I like the keycap set, I'll take the 1u keys and you can have everything else.

The more I use matrix keyboards, the less likely I am ever to like 104-ANSI ever again. I just love my Space keys too much.

I'd be interested in mods for some sets for sure.

for example:

I'm interested in the Icon mods for the DSA Granite set.
I bought my R1 second hand, and while I like the text mods it came with a lot, I'd like to have the icon mods (either trade or buy).

I'd be interested in new mods for sure. No DSA or SA for me, the other guys can have at em. But cherry/DCS/OEM would be right up my alley

I'd be interested in cherry profile mods.

Haha, these are the hardest to come by. But I have some with a proxy now. Maybe in a few months I'll be selling those since I will not use them!

I would be interested in:
- Blank ISO Enter in Cherry profile. Any colour, but blue would be best.
- Any Dolch modifiers (ISO Enter but also other keys)
- Lasered Signature Plastics modifiers (ISO Enter...)

I would be interested in any DSA profile mods at all. I love mixing colors/styles!

Great, this thread is turning into a forum for people to mention their preferences. That's good; probably there will be some cooperation for buys coming from here! I'm sure many of us have been interested in something but only want the mods or the alphas!

Hi,
I'm interested in Cherry Profile Mods.

I like to harvest the keycaps from old Cherry boards, because here in Europe it's cheaper than ordering sets from the U.S.. Sadly the modifiers almost never fit new keyboards. (off center stemmed capslock, 1.75 Alt / Ctrl, longer Spacebar)
