Hi all! Diving from logitech solar into the mechanical world!
« on: Tue, 16 December 2014, 18:49:33 »
Hey everybody, recently started looking into mechanical keyboards for a new dev machine I'm building at home. Found this website and it has been invaluable for research.

Actually I just got my first mech keyboard, but have yet to hook it up! It's a 1989 Omnikey 102 Gold Label (found in grandpa's garage), but that's a story for a different thread!

Welcome on board  :D
Great that you joined with your first mechanical board because you'll soon find out theres more to GH than valuable information. The community here is very helpful and supportive! Its an awesome place to dive in with plenty of keyboard hobbyists.

Nice! Yeah I'm still running the k750 at work.. just for the sake of wireless.. but if my omnikey takes my fancy then that may change! What are you running now, anyway? Do you still use the logitech, as well?

I keep a brand new K750 just in case of emergencies but I've been using a Ducky Shine 2 with MX Clears for about a year and a half now.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Nice find - but it might be the start of a long slippery slope :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
