Hand wiring questions
« on: Thu, 08 January 2015, 13:09:53 »
Hey there GH. I've been looking into hand wired keyboards like the Planck and Atomic. However, I notice that I've never seen a real TKL, only 60% or below. Is there a reason for this, for example, a Teensy not being able to have that many inputs? Or is it just because nobody has ever produced plates like this? Thanks.

TKL is probably one of the easiest layouts to find in general and to get customized boards in. If you notice, most handwired stuff is really customized and a lot of people like smaller boards. So...they make a smaller customized board and handwire it.

I'm guessing you're into non-staggered, matrix layouts.

Have you read my Prototyping New Keyboard Designs (Using Plate Mounting and Direct Wiring) thread?

Also, matt3o has some excellent writeups on Deskthority.

You could always get a Tipro and hack away at it. :)
