Ducky Mini driver problem
« on: Sun, 11 January 2015, 09:31:40 »
Hey guys! I bought a Ducky Mini ISO with MX Blues on the 4th, and it arrived a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, when I plugged it into my computer, the driver didn't install properly. I got error code 28, which means the driver could not be found. I've tried using different USB ports (2.0 and 3.0), restarting my computer, uninstalling all other keyboard drivers, running in Safe Mode, etc... but alas it does not work. However, this is not a fault with the keyboard, as far as I can tell; it works in BIOS, on another Windows 7 computer, and on OpenSUSE.
Do you guys have any other ideas which I could try? I have until the 18th to return the keyboard, and I've already contacted Ducky and the shop I bought it from. Thanks!

That doesn't sound great. I'm getting one of these on Tuesday and I don't want this to happen D:
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Well, if it's any help, I seem to be the only person to be cursed with it not working on my computer - probably won't happen to you!

Hope so. I've ordered a YOTH edition as well so hopefully it won't.

Judging by what you have done already, I would say your best bet is to return it.

From what you posted, it sounds to me like you have a problem with your computer, and not your keyboard.  If you tried it on another computer and it worked fine, there must be some software issue.
I am unaware of what OS your computer is running, (I am guessing Windows 7 because you said another Windows 7 computer)
If that is the case, you might want to go and look for some malicious software that is causing your keyboard not to work on that particular computer.  You might want to try MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, or Spybot-Search and Destroy.  I hope you don't have download issues too.  Hopefully it's not the keyboard, but something preventing your keyboard from working properly with your computer.

You may need to try 'ghost remover' to remove all ghost keyboard or USB hid entries.
You may also need to remove the host adapters (after unhiding them in device manager).
Also possible is editing the registry in safe mode and doing a search and removing all installed keyboard registry keys (for unique devices).

I've fixed it! You guys made me wonder if perhaps I had files missing from my OS specifically, and that was causing driver problems. After some Google-fu, it turns out that I was missing a file called usb.inf, usually in C:\Windows\inf. I copied it over from another computer and hallelujah! I don't have to return this keyboard anymore, because it works perfectly! Thanks for your help :)
