Cleaning Cherry MX?
« on: Tue, 07 April 2015, 23:34:23 »

I spilled sugar sweetened tea on my Cherry MX Brown switches on my Cooler Master Storm Quickfire TK Mechanical Keyboard. I HAVE CLEANED 2-3 TIMES ALREADY with alcohol and cotton swab and each time it works temporarily, only to have the the switches be gunky and sticky a couple days later. Can i clean my switches more thoroughly short of desoldering my board?

Distilled water bath is questionable. IDK what to do. Suggestions Please.

When you say you have cleaned with alcohol, what have you done? Have you sprayed the inside of the switches?

What I do is spray a couple of times inside the switch, then actuate it about 25-30 times while blowing inside it to ensure the alcohol evaporates. Then if it's still sticky, I repeat the process.

You could take the switches apart, but if your board is plate mounted then you would have to desolder the switches in order to do that.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?
