Who Can Repair a Datahand?
« on: Mon, 26 January 2015, 00:02:16 »
Bought a Datahand Personal back in 2004 and used it (along with a product I believe was called a "HeadMouse" and then a Wacom tablet) for about a year until I was able to use a normal keyboard again.  I liked the Datahand a great deal but found that some of its utility was reduced by my use of the Wacom -- because the Datahand is recessed and fits a bit like a glove, there was always fumbling to get my hand in and out of it...  So I ended up putting it away and transitioning to a different ergonomic keyboard.   Well, recently a friend contacted me asking about my symptoms and recovery, etc. and I recommend the Datahand -- only to learn the company is gone.  So I offered to lend him my keyboard.  Only problem is that when I tested it out I discovered two keys on the right hand, index finger, don't work.  At first I figured it was probably just dirty and blew it out with compressed air but it still doesn't work.  Now we're searching for someone or somewhere that repairs these units...I mean this one really had only about a year of use so it should be in very good condition...but where can one take it?  (I am in Los Angeles and there are lots of computer repair places but am guessing most won't want to even bother to look at it).  Any suggestions on what to do, where to go, anything would be appreciated.

You could probobaly get in touch with a user here that goes by OldDataHands.  He is actually in the process of building his own from scratch using an original as a pattern.  He has helped me in the past with PCB design.
