What if someone gave you the proposition that if you are using a keyboard it MUST be cherry mx browns or you don't type on a keyboard anymore what would you do? (No modding, no rubber domes etc.)

I would swing with it.
Maybe I could accidentally trip and fall into a barrel full of switch lube.

Type on keyboard = make money.

Buy new keyboard after.

If admins could add a 'filter out posts with MX brown in the name' feature that would be great.

And what is so wrong with a Brown switch?

Is it the color? Does it turn you off when you change out your keycaps, Spam?

I think ray is still just pissed I didn't sell him my 75% board with clears. :)

Ray, if you still want it I will prioritize my next build (with browns, muahaha) and I will sell you my 75% with clears (65g, lubed, stickered, sipped). Same board you wanted before.

Alright. When I get home from this business trip I will spend my small amount of evening time building my next board and I will sell you my current board as soon as I am done. It will probably be about 2 weeks from now before I will be able to ship. :)

Haha. I have like 200 clears right now and I am switching back to browns for a bit, so I am going to be using the clears for builds for other people. I probably have enough for now, but if you are just trying to offload them, I am willing to pick them up. I expect a lot of people will want ergo clear builds.  I will be building mainly 60% boards, so I won't be going through them as quickly.

Ya you msged me a while ago and asked if I would consider selling you that board. It was my favorite board, so I didn't want to part with it. I told you then that if I considered selling it I would let you know. :) I needed my other build components to come in before I would consider it. Last week I got what I needed for my next build, so you have great timing. :)

Can't believe it. SpamRay, is that your 100th or 200th board? What does swill have that is so ultra must have? (Hint: photos!)

Don't worry, I won't be competing against you to buy from him. Am mostly interested in building/ modding something for use on one hand now.

I tried clears but found them too heavy, which is strange because I have a heavy hand when typing. Also the keyboard I was using at the time (WASD CODE) was suffering from the dreaded ping. I knew pinging was a possibility going in but didn't think it would bother me too much - was wrong on that count.

If they added a backlight option to the standard WASD v2 (which I own now), that would be about perfect for me, but I don't terribly mind not having it because the board is otherwise excellent. For me, browns strike the right balance between typing feel and gaming performance. I realize this probably puts me in the minority among users here, but at the end of the day, all that matters is what works for the individual.

IIRC you have modded stuff before? Why not try out my jailhouse blues mod as described in the Making Things Together thread?

You're CONUS so it's easy and cheap to get the dental bands. You'll wind up with something better than browns, I'm sure!

The extent of my modding experience comes from putting dental bands on my HHKB. The Realforce keyboard I'm selling was already modified when I bought it. Besides, I think the switches on the WASD are plate mounted, which would mean de-soldering, which I have neither the equipment nor the skill to tackle.

I just don't see why you would be considered a minority in the group considering that I also prefer browns xD

What if someone gave you the proposition that if you are using a keyboard it MUST be cherry mx browns or you don't type on a keyboard anymore what would you do? (No modding, no rubber domes etc.)

 ???

I have a bigger problem with the "No modding" part.... I'd survive with Browns, but would MUCH rather mod them to ErgoClears with trampolines.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.
