I felt kind of sad when I realized there's no such thing as an endgame keyboard.

I have Timehop on my phone, and I had one three days ago that said:

"Keyboard number three, come on down!"

A year ago I bought my WASD. One year on, I received my 8th board in the post. I've not sold any. I managed to buy 3 mechs in just over 2 years, and acquired 5 more in the last 12 months. I honestly don't think I need any more boards right now, just more caps.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

I questioned my sanity after buying the Filco Majestouch 2 (Cherry MX Reds) and smashed it right after I found out I hate the feeling of the reds.

I know. What a waste!

I still can't explain to my friends why I spend so much money on keyboards, and to be honest, I'm not sure I really know either.

I'm rethinking my whole life right now...

There is no endgame keyboard.

Sometimes I buy my girlfriend gifts and say it's money from selling some keycaps, or a keyboard, or from building a keyboard or modding a keyboard.

It's never from that - predominantly, I don't sell anything, period.

And Margo's Mods still hasn't even nearly broken even and certainly doesn't run at a profit.

But it makes the constant (literally) influx of stuff to our house at least slightly beneficial for her.

there is a spot in our bedroom that is reserved for putting/piling the boxes of stuff that people send me to build for them, and, it never gets smaller, it sometimes gets bigger, I work a bit harder to bring it down a bit, sometimes I finish all the stuff in the pile, but by the time I have more stuff has arrived. Sometimes she gets angry and makes me "clear up the table" which we've never eaten at as it's always covered with tools and soldering stuff.

My poor, long suffering girlfriend, you are so understanding towards my weird hobbies.
I got boards.

The only thing you can do, is bring them into the mechanical keyboard fold.  I ordered a parts / caps missing Comfort Ergo Magic Keyboard on ebay today for a coworker who has been eyeballing ergo boards for a couple weeks.  It is RD, but it has MX compatible stems.  I am drawing him a plate design for a Cherry "M15" clone as well - he will be a true convert soon.

I've probably spent $250.00

Plenty of people spend that much or more on one keyboard.

Indeed.  I will point out though that like $230 of this is on one keyboard :D.  And while $250 isn't a ton of money, its a fair amount for me and I always feel guilty about it but don't really regret it (yet)

I will say just my 4704 107 was significantly more than $250, and totally worth it.

The LZ 1800 I just recently bought is by far the most expensive I've ever gotten at $260 (maybe more) but man does that thing look awesome

bringing this back, need to vent about keyboards, maybe someone will listen

The ergodox was my daily driver for almost 2 years but i may be shelving it for good,

I have been traveling some with my new job where i have to whip out my laptop and do demos and jot down notes (which requires the use of the keyboard) or use my laptop at the airport and plane. Laptop keyboard obviously sucks, but the switching between the ergodox split matrix layout at home and the staggered keyboard on my laptop is confusing me, i keep making typing mistakes.

And i am starting to wonder if ergodox was really helping me in the long run :O the ergodox kind of took one problem and replaced it with another, although i admit it really helped with left wrist pain, i think if i used a wrist brace on my left hand it may solve that problem with a normal keyboard, it has to do with how i approach my hand on the left side of my keyboard and how i rest my palms when i type...bad i know

So for the past 2 months I've been cycling through multiple keyboards, mostly buckling spring and cherry, but the truth is i really like them all (except unlubed red). And i honestly enjoy cycling through keyboards.

I was ready to give up the keyboard hobby completely and geekhack (I wouldn't be missed :() but i realize my keyboard addiction is worse than i thought, i ended up joining the red scarf III...why the hell did i do that..I still have other keyboard projects to work on. And if another ergo custom board comes out i doubt i can resist it.

I would miss you, Glod.  :-*   And it's interesting to hear from someone who used the ergodox so heavily and is thinking it isn't right for them.

I will say that I really really enjoy cycling through boards and it seems to be my "normal" state.  :thumb:  Maybe you'll find that it works well for you too.

I'm not slapping sense into you.   :-X  hehe

The keyboard looks cool but it looks pretty silly pulling out any keyboard in a board room, I'm a sales engineer so I have to leave a good impression. Maybe if it was wireless....I dunno, could be worth owning. Then there is the the key caps....Damn this hobby.

I have two keyboards sitting in drawers that don't entirely work. I don't own a soldering iron.

I have a board incoming to replace my current daily driver, my derpy monoprice, which is probably just going to turn into a project board.

I have three good pairs of pants, and will soon have four keyboards. I want at least two more keyboards.

Help me.

Oh yeah. My last board including caps is probably closer to $500. And that doesn't include the Clacks/Brobots!

I received my Novatouch a few weeks ago and I must admit that I love it. It is my first ANSI keyboard since I decided to drop the ISO layout. I don't know if I will go back to MX since I discovered Topre switches. The problem is that I bought 4 MX bro caps thinking that I will put them on my NT. But they don't fit the hybrid stem!  :'(  I don't know what to do. There are too much beautiful set for me to drop out MX stem but I love Topre so far. I'm not sure of what I want anymore. I'm thinking of modding the Bro but I'm afraid of damaging them ...

I'll have to put some more thoughts on all of that.

Touch Typing (I'm starting to be fluent since 1 or 2 weeks) and Topre are just too nice for me to stop writing. Sorry guys.
