The blue label looks so out of place .....

Yeah, I know, I hate that but I'm guessing that's all Unicomp had that late in the game.

If it's made by unicomp, could they still make industrial grey colored cases?

They must outsource the shells from somewhere else and have to order in huge lots.  They'd probably never sell enough of the industrial shells to make it worth it.

If they do it internally, and it's the same sort of process I'm familiar with for forming 3.5" diskette casings, it's very simple to change the input medium (colored pellets) and get a new color.  The cool thing about that process is when you're transitioning between colors you get an output of these swirly mixed colored cases.  Think I still have one of those diskettes around here somewhere.  Would look great on a keyboard case.

They once made SSKs as well. Surely they still have the case tooling. Add some industrial colored plastic, and...

I think iMav or webwit got the last one about 5-10 years ago.

I remember reading that they located to an old furniture shop or factory location for their present location.  I hope they have the equipment to produce more parts for the future.  Maybe even have new molds and use PVC plastic for the bezels again.  If they do that, they probably could produce bezels in a wide array of colors other than off-white and black only.  I don't think anyone there at Unicomp thinks outside the box at all.
Heck, they could have produced entire keysets in different colors too.  It leaves a little to be desired if only they produce 1u keys in different colors rather than entire sets.
IF they had the equipment to make the keycaps, why do they have to order them?  This is perplexing to me.  I would think they could make an entire keyboard with the existing equipment they have there.  A lot of unanswered questions and empty promises from Unicomp these days.
They don't update their website for themselves and Facebook.  The posts are ancient, and there is clumsy navigation and a lot of empty (no information at all) in the help sections.
I don't understand Unicomp.

Quite a nice price.  Surprised it didn't go for more.  Guess people are way more interested in SSK's.

After only 2 bids!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
