Cheapest Topre FN Key?
« on: Fri, 13 March 2015, 14:58:42 »
Been looking at the availability of a different coloured FN as I plan to buy a HHKB pretty soon. I've seen some printed ones on shape ways but they look pretty rough, is there any cheap-ish(lol) options for me  ;D

It's not the problem of price.. It's a problem that no one is making them..

Bro Caps and Hot Keys Project both have made them, but I don't know of plans for any more to be made in the short term.

Other than that your best bet would be to try to split a full RealForce set with someone.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'd be very interested in finding different colored FN keys as well. Strange to me that there's an official pack with ESC and CTRL, but not FN.

Shapeways-fabricated one was too rough to use.

I posted in the classifieds forum (and /r/mechmarket) and someone was willing to get rid of one a month ago. Didn't cost that much either.

I'm interested too! Looking for Blanks though, so same profile will do.

I have both orange and black-on-black realforce sets, and neither have FN keys — just the stupid windows menu key.

I actually want to get some HHKB keys just to de-winblows-ify this thing.
