Corsair K70
« on: Wed, 25 March 2015, 22:02:42 »
I recently decided to make the leap to mechanical keyboards and was wondering how solid of a keyboard the Corsair K70 (the one without the tramp stamp) is for the price.  The first mechanical I bought was a Ducky Zero with browns. I liked for typing but wasn't sure if I liked it for gaming so I decided to return it so I can try reds.  It also seemed more of a dirt magnet compared to previous rubber dome I was using.  The Corsair K70 looks easier to maintain since the keys are above the frame which would be a huge bonus.

Wondering if I should also buy some o-rings since I tend to bottom out during gaming but not sure what size would be best.

Any information on the quality of this keyboard would be appreciated!

Got my K70 maybe a year ago. I haven't used any other mech boards so I can't really give a solid comparison but I certainly love mine.
I got the one with red backlights and red switches (I thought it looked the nicest and also heard some bad things about the blue LEDs dying on people). The reds definitely work for gaming but I also really like typing on them too.
Yeah it's pretty easy to keep clean because everything sits a little bit above the board. Also the build quality feels really good. It just feels like a solid well put together board. It is quite clacky when you really get going on it so the o-rings might help but I think that's a personal judgement.
That's my two cents anyway!

It's a good board but I see a lot of complaints about how the bottom row isn't standard so it's hard to find replacment keycaps for the spacebar etc.

Are the F keys still rubber domes?
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

The K70 is fully mechanical. Only the media keys are rubber domes.
The F (F1 - F12) keys are also mechanic if that is what you are referring to. The extra gaming macro keys in K95 are rubber domes.
Real men do it with a keyboard.

I really like mine. Not sure what else could have been done to make it better, actually
