Hello :)

Hiya! I'm a novice when it comes to all this, but I have (worsening) arthritis, among other things, so my dream is to build a totally custom ergonomic keyboard.

I think I found the right place  ;)

See y'all around!

Welcome to Geekhack!

The ergonomics area might be a good place to start.

We've had people with all sorts of problems coming here for help, and although you should always seek proper medical advice, you can still get some excellent pointers from other GH members who have been down the same road.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
