Opinions on KBParadise LEDs/Build Quality
« on: Fri, 10 April 2015, 14:49:13 »
After potentially almost a year of use, does anybody have thoughts on KBPardise's backlit LEDs?  Issues regarding LEDs failing, or anything of that sort?  By way of example, Amazon's CM Rapid-i has a handful of reviews citing that LEDs began failing after a few months.

Looking for a TKL backlit keyboard with cherry MX blues.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Haven't received my V60's yet, I'm also wondering this

The worse part is the lack of spares, I wish at least one of these kb companies would stop being a cheap ass and send 5 spare leds, it would also give them a distinct advantage over their competitors and ease the minds of the owners, it would likely cost <<$1

If anyone has links to leds that are identical to V60 ones, I would like to buy some

I've seen many led issues, posts, none related to a V60, I guess that says something about led quality of V60's, they are probably decent, just wish they sent 1-2 spares at least

Mine arrived with broken DIP switch that makes it stuck on all-on DIP mode.

Thanks for sharing that experience

I'm sure you either returned or solved the issue on your own, however it would be easy to manually set the dip switches, since they are static switches, off topic

So DIP switches are ~ - yet the leds are still issue-less

The people who would need and have the ability to use/replace them are a subset of a subset of their customer base. In other words, don't hold your breath waiting for this to happen.

Believe me I'm not, I would die in like 10 minutes

I bought 2 V60's recently, I just wish I was able to match their led colors, at that time maintainability wasn't a consideration and the stock options were limited, I see now that I could have used the leds of one keyboard as spares for the other one in the future, if issues occur

I guess I can always use one keyboard as spares for the other by mixing led colors, could be spicy

----

Whatever the customer base is, sending a spare led and advertising that spare led(s) in the description would significantly boost the marketing power, while bumping the cost just ~0.$

One example is WASD keyboards, they send a PS/2 converter which I guess almost no one use, they could send a spare led with their CODE keyboards instead, which would increase the buyability significantly, since most of their customer base avoid keyboards with leds because of these reasons

Still not holding my breath tho, I bought the V60's as a gateway drug (to 60%'s), I don't think keyboards need leds, I just hope I don't get hooked to them
