Material to silence the novatouch spring echo?
« on: Sat, 01 August 2015, 13:02:41 »
Just finished silencing my novatouch. Now with the clack mostly gone, I've noticed a slight echo that I can only guess is the result of the spring reseting itself.

Has anyone attempted to shove acoustic foam or something in the empty space of the novatouch to mitigate this?

Huh? What kind of "silencing" did you do? The Topre switches are just as silent as any other rubber domes. They are rubber domes - they don't clack when you bottom out.
The silencing mod that people usually do is a ring of foam around each stem inside the barrels to dampen the sound of topping up.
If that is what you did and you still think it sounds too much, then you are really sensitive.

The only spring in the keyboard is the helper spring in the Space Bar, which makes the Space Bar harder.

There are people who have lubed their sliders and stabilisers and say that that has made the keys less rattly.

Hum I don't see how the spring could make that much noise. All I did to silenced mine was to put some thick grease on the stabs wires and use landing pads for the switch stem to stop hitting the switch housing.
