What are your thoughts on PMK's proposed method of production.

First I would like to state that I am personally new to this whole custom keycap scene. With that said I read through signature plastics new royalty agreement and wanted yalls thoughts on how this effects designers and the keyboard community in the future.

Honestly it sounds like a good idea, but the details are still quite fuzzy. I don't think I'll be able to make up my mind until I actually see how the store works.

Indeed. Just to clarify this though, you only get the 5% for what you sell through their store. So if you decide to do a drop on Massdrop, for example, you won't get anything.

Of course. As with any distribution channel, the designer/organizer would need to work out their licensing and royalty agreement with the distributor beforehand.

From what I understood from their site they reserve the right to reproduce sets they feel are profitable. I do believe it's awesome that a royalty is paid out, I just question moving forward if it will drive down the desirability to produce a piece of art, which I feel we all agree keycap sets are.

My main question about the future is for something like Modern Selectric, which is seeing slow pickup due to the custom legend plates driving the entry rate so high. Is SP just going to eat the cost of legend plates in the future? A full set of custom legends would run about $5500.
