D/SA Keycaps with Shortened Stemholders

I'm wondering if anyone attempted this and whether it's theoretically possible

In my opinion, both keycap types would be better off with shorter stem holders, especially SA, they would absorb the sound better, they would be easier to use
(I also wonder why they designed these keycaps as flat mounted, especially SA, they are behemoths of keycaps, they could certainly benefit from a 1-2mm reduction)

I guess it's doable with some careful sanding, but I'm not sure whether I have the courage or the right tools to attempt it, at least not without some help/advice

Interesting... Could be worth a try, at least on one or two test caps. There seems to be enough clearance on SA caps at least to lose about 2mm. Maybe with a grinding attachment on a Dremel (using the flat part of one of these perhaps: http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Accessories/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=932), but you'd have to use some kind of custom "stop" to get the depth the same on all caps.

There are some bits from the default Dremel accessories that might work, I definitely recall one with a grinder top, In case of over grinding, I'm guessing some basic plastic spacers might fill up some space to correct the damage

In any case, like you said, It's worth a trial, I probably have some DSA keycaps that I can spare - I'm not very good at using a Dremel tho, so I'm not too optimistic about the results

I can't think of a custom stop that would work, if anyone can think of one, I'm open to suggestions, I will probably mark the height and hope I can match it with small grindings
