Commodore PC10-III/Colt Keyboard Replacement?
« on: Fri, 07 August 2015, 21:03:24 »
Hello!
I recently came across a Commodore Colt, an old XT Clone. After much trials and tribulation, I finally got it to boot! However, I didn't receive a keyboard with it. I thought it would take any AT/XT keyboard, but after research, I found this isn't the case and it requires a very specific keyboard.
Looking for "Commodore PC10-III keyboard" on eBay understandably yields few results but I did find this picture that shows a model number:

Looking for that model number, I found a bunch of Mitsumi keyboards: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=kpq-e99yc&_sop=15
However, they don't say "Used on: PC10/20-III" and aren't Commodore branded.

So my question is, should the Mitsumi-branded keyboard work or did Commodore modify this model to be proprietary to their system?

Thank you!

-Randy

*EDIT* For those curious, here it is:

Hmm.. The keyboard you are looking after should have a layout precisely like the IBM Model F AT, but with reverse colour scheme.

Most other early Commodore keyboards have almost that layout, with the Alt and Caps Lock keys moved up a row. Those keyboards I have seen are always XT or AT... but those are apparently not what you are looking for.
