Lifted SMT diode pad :\
« on: Sun, 23 August 2015, 03:57:39 »
If you look at this picture, you can see the flux stained mess of one of my first SMT solder attempts ever...

Now, the problem is that I tried to soldapullt it off to attempt to straighten it out like a total noob, and I'm pretty sure I sucked the pad with it.......

Would anyone have any idea how to fix this?

The top pad of the right of the pair of diodes at the top?  You just need to solder a wire between the end of the diode and the ring above (which is meant for through hole diodes)

If that's too hard you could always just use one through hole and take any pics from the other corner so it's out of focus :))

OK, that's what i thought the hole was, i just couldn't check it with my multimeter's continuity tester for some reason.

There is no continuity because there is no pad - if there was you wouldn't have a problem!

If you want to confirm (white PCBs are not the easiest to see traces on) check on another switch footprint on the top row - they are usually exact copies :)

If not you can always use a through hole and even if you destroy the top pad too you can solder it straight to the switch pin - have no worries about getting a functional board :)
